Home design and building are in my blood, and I absolutely love every part of the amazing process of making people's home dreams come true!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As a young boy, I was raised to always have a shovel, screwdriver or hammer in hand on custom home building sites around Bounder County in the family business Conrads Custom Homes, LLC. I started working as a grunt laborer as early as I could walk, then learning how to do literally every trade on the job site by hand at the craftsman level along with a tireless work ethic and attention to detail. I began managing the job site at 12 years old and rose to be majority owner in 2010 of the company my father, Kevin, and grandfather, John Conrads, and I started in 1993. By 1996 I began apprenticing with two local architects and taking architecture classes at Niwot High, while modifying paper plans by hand for construction. A majority of our business has been from building spec homes in and around Boulder Count, then the market crashed, and I shifted the main focus to flipping homes and them remodeling for homeowners since the crash.

I am lucky to have two awesome daughters; Lola (17 who works for Conrads Custom Homes like her father & is also a photographer at Legacy High) and Lilly (13 & STEM Champ at Erie Middle). We have 2 dogs, Xena (Blue Heeler & Loki (Cockapoo).

I come from a long line of military service in my family and I felt my calling to be in the Air Force just before 9/11, where I served as a Structural Civil Engineer at Minot, ND trained by the Navy SeaBee's with a Top Secret Security clearance during Operation Iraqi & Enduring Freedom. That service allowed me to get my BFA in Interior Design from Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, where I was a teacher's aid for residential design and focused my thesis on Sustainable Universal Healthcare design for Veterans' with PTSD and brain injuries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 I am turning my 35th year of hands-on design/build construction experience and intimately know how everything in a home is designed, built or put together from every position in a construction company which differentiates me from the typical designer or general contractor and allows my designs to be empathetic, functional, buildable, and long lasting while on budget/schedule and being aesthetically pleasing to the Homeowner.

 

Our availability can be more limited because Conrads Custom Homes has always chosen fewer projects at once that typical home builders/remodeler in order to a focus on a very connected/ personal/adaptive client experience with hands on high quality craftsmanship/leadership coupled with low overhead, instead of hiring for everything to be done while sitting in an office and golfing/skiing 2x a week while expecting things to go as planned, as many remodeling company owner do in this industry. Having 1 person as your Designer/Project Manager/Craftsman on your project from the moment you call us produces an environment for the you with far less stress, greatly improved communication (no mistakes from playing telephone),  agility when changes are desired, crystal clear clarity from them beginning (many companies use salesmen that know little about design or construction), clear accountability (I can't blame the Architect etc.) and a peace of mind that your needs/wants/dreams for your home will be respected with fiduciary responsibility.

I treat every project with the same amount of care, innovation, and enthusiasm, regardless of budget or style, whether it is a simple style update, a bathroom remodels, or a luxury custom home. I can design and build just about any style, in any location and are particularly adept at cost value engineering at the luxury or custom level. Additionally, although Conrads Custom Homes likes to focus it's efforts in Boulder County,  I am a licensed General Contractor in many jurisdictions with the reciprocity throughout Colorado, so I can handle any project location within reason.
